Learn to taste coffee like the professionals, and compare different coffee origins from around the world this Friday, May 30th.  The cupping starts at 10 sharp at the depot: 305 Railroad Ave, Viroqua, by the Tobacco warehouse.

Below is our 1930's vintage German Roaster.

Serious Pizza

I am pretty serious about the pizza I eat, but the Italians have taken pizza regulation to new heights--see this BBC article.  "The regulations are designed to protect and promote the original, traditional Neapolitan pizza."

Well locally we have some good pizza.  The Driftless_Cafe springs to mind, and in some grocery stores there is the frozen One_Sun_Bakery pizza.  I still have to taste test the frozen pizza, but it looks like the best ingredients and care is taken in its preparation.

I make pizza from scratch.  Look to the full story for the recipes for thin or thick crust...the toppings are up to you.

Dirty Dishes--a dialogue

Too Much Coffee Man (and the above image) are TM and © Shannon Wheeler.

My favorite "Too Much Coffee Man" cartoon creates a colorful commentary on dirty dishes.  Happily the author provides his cartoons on the official_website  (with a tip jar for those feeling generous--as we all should.)

So here it is: My_Favorite_Dirty_Dishes_Cartoon

and here is an Ed Barlow poem that provides a counterpoint of sorts that celebrates his recent (retirement era) love of dishwashing:

I love washing dishes

I love making dirty dishes clean.
A clean dish is a happy dish.

A happy dish makes for happy people.
Happy people make for a happier planet.

So I am doing my part-
Saving the world-
One dish at a time.

A friend of mine, who happens to not be Buddist subscribes to the Dharma_Quote _of_the_Week that is published by SnowLion_Press and sent the following:

In his autobiography Freedom in Exile, His Holiness the Dalai Lama speaks of his attachment as a child to the monastery's Master of the Kitchen, commenting, "I sometimes think that the act of bringing food is one of the basic roots of all relationships."
