The Driftless Folk School is pleased to announce its first annual Harvest Festival. The event will take place on Saturday, October 7 from 4-9 pm at the farm of Jacob and Sofya Hundt, located at S5193 County Road NN, on the south edge of Viroqua. Everyone is welcome and invited to attend. Activities will include horse-drawn wagon rides, craft demonstrations, children's games, a produce swap, folk music, and a potluck meal. A variety of home grown meats will be provided and visitors should bring a dessert or vegetable dish to pass. The purpose of the Harvest Festival is to celebrate the contributions of members, instructors, and volunteers who have helped the Folk School during its inaugural Summer 2006 season of classes and to announce the course offerings for the upcoming Winter 2006-2007 season.

The Driftless Folk School is a non-profit initiative based in the Viroqua area offering experiences in agriculture, natural history,
arts and crafts, and the traditions of rural Wisconsin for adults and families. Classes offered during the Summer 2006 season included courses in woodworking, herbs, blacksmithing, food preservation, sourdough bread baking, spinning, star gazing, and more. The upcoming Winter season will cover the period between October and March and will include a variety of new and seasonally themed courses, including birdwatching, home brewing, instrument making, sausage making, and a course in world religions, among many others.
