PEACE WORKER SAMI RASOULI COMES TO OUR AREABy Mocha, Section War and Peace
Learn about efforts for peace in Iraq.
I heard Sami Rasouli speak in La Crosse during the early days of the Iraq war. He speaks straight from his heart with compassion and humility. Hear him speak at Echo Valley Hope, E14604 County Road F near Ontario on Saturday, November 21st from 4:30-6 p.m. More about Sami in the full story...
Sami left Iraq in the late 1970's. He lived in the Twin Cities and connected to the peace community there. Sami became an American citizen. In November of 2004 he returned to his country of birth to help rebuild it. He helped organize Muslim Peacemaker Teams. Also he's worked on projects there including Water for Peace, Letters for Peace, and an Iraqi Art Project. Recently Sami lead a delegation of 13 Iraqis from Najaf to Minneapolis for a Sister City Project. Art work will be offered for sale with the proceeds to help support human rights efforts in Iraq. Sami spends part of each year in the U.S. sharing information about Iraq and raising money for projects to promote peace between Americans and Iraqis.
Echo Valley Hope promotes sustainable living and ecological preservation through educational efforts. They work for peace in these ways and by helping those who endured disasters or long-term disadvantages. For more information on Muslim Peacemaker Teams visit www.mpt-iraq.org.
